Blipswitch Digital: Selande - Faust EP

Label: Blipswitch Digital
Release #: 037
Format: MP3/WAV

(1) Faust (Dub Techno/Deep Tech House)
(2) Spades (Deep Dubstep, Dub-Tek)

Selande brings us two fantastic pieces from the deep side on this EP. ‘Faust’ is a deep dub techno number, but still carries a great deal of energy through its effective use of percussion, a grooving bassline, and active hi hats. Lush echo chords, pads, and an gorgeous ethereal vocals fill out the texture on this beautiful piece. With ‘Spades’, Selande gives us a taste of some serious dubstep/techno. A tight grooving beat interplays with dubby chords, pads, interesting effects, and skillful dub manipulations throughout. This EP will satisfy the Basic Channel or 2562 lover alike.

Feedback is always appreciated. Here’s what some people have been saying so far:

Laurent Garnier (Osgut Tontrager, F Communications, Mute)-- 4/5. Great, deep moody and atmospheric. LOOOVELYYYYY.

TKR (Barish, Paradise List, Bassism, VolumeRed)-- 5/5! Thank you for this release!!!!

Sebastian Herre (Archipel, Produkt Schallplatten)-- 5/5! Cullen is a very talented musician, this release is beautiful!

Mateo Murphy (Archipel, Underwater)-- 4/5. Great tracks, definitely stuff I like to listen to!

Alland Byallo (Leibe Detail, Nightlight Music, KONTROL)-- Feelin Faust!

Limacon (Poker Flat, Force, Auralism)-- 4/5. Faust is deep and dope.

Riyaz Khan (DIVERSIONS, 105.5FM-Toronto)-- FAUST would be a perfect set warmer for me! My fave is SPADES - love those dubby chords and effects..

Process Rebel (Subinfinity, Destroy All Concepts)-- 4/5.

DJ Tomas (Umoja Soundsystem, Voltage Music)-- 4/5. Really like the tempo and elements of "Faust." Deep track with great synths and sounds woven throughout. A winner!

Metaphase (Pure Filth, Blipswitch)-- 4/5. Faust - Loving the percussive intro , and deep subby drop . Quite a classy track that rides the balance of Dub and Techno with taste. Spades - The glitchy, syncopated vibe of the track caught my ear right away. Refreshing on the ears with a nice deep bubbling sub, and groovy drum programing. Great atmosphere.

Professor Bang (Prankster Dice)-- 5/5! More heat from Blipswitch! Diggin "Faust" and the super mellow bass-pulse..reminds me of deep Detroit sounds and some early Om stuff. "Spades" is almost like garage-step, with that little syncopated hesitation in the middle of the phrase. I really like this, and will play it in the club as a means of getting super low before bringing back something heavier.
