"We´re two producers and we produce music since 2001. Our roots are basicly Rapmusic (HipHop Culture) and Jazz. In 2004 we meet two girls, Mdm.Malle and Mdm.Maison. We got the same musical roots and we also have the same conception about music. After a while we decided to form Malle.Maison! So Malle.Maison got four members: Mdm.Malle, Mdm. Maison, Monsiuer Merdi and Sébastien Tournier! Sébastien Tournier and M.Merdi are mainly responsible for the production, Malle and Maison are singers and co-producers! But it is our cooperation, and our different musical background, that forms our style! We´re influenced by a lot of music genres and artists! But we´re also influenced by pornmovies and martial arts movies! We love this stuff! The seventies disco scene did us also inspired, like the classical Jazzmusic releases by Blue Note. And the Hip Hop scene in the nineties also influenced us, like the Techno-House scene across europe! Paris,London,Berlin! Don´t worry, we don´t forget about the big US community! Le Castle Vania is the production alias of fist-pumping speaker squealer DJ Dylan, aka Dylan Eiland. Hailing from the Dirty South, Eiland was influenced more by what he didn’t want in his music from there—namely, prevalent crunk. Espousing, “Disco is the new disco,” Eiland makes life-affirming Euro-electro—it’s stroboscopic sleaze-pop “that sparkles and shines like Champagne at an orgy,” says his boy Andrew. Le Castle Vania’s melody- and mascara-streaked remixes have reshaped blog-rock champs including Snowden (Jade Tree) and 120 Days (Vice Records). Additionally, original collaborations with Brooklyn’s Factory Aire plus upcoming vocoder-flecked work for indie labels including Dim Mak and iheartcomix stalk like a white tiger in old-school kicks.

We usually cover the progression of modern techno here, yes. I couldn't resist sharing these catchy disco tracks with you all. The first track is Dylan's new remix of Leeds-based producer Grum. The following tracks are what got him on the rise to the top. He's constantly traveling in and outside of the country, headlining and dj'ing beside acts such as Paco Osuna, Chuck Love, Treasure Fingers, Acid Girls, Erol Alkan, Boyz Noise, Villians, Kill the Noise and literally hundreds more. Nuits Sonores Promo

The 6th edition of the Nuits sonores festival took place in Lyon from 7 May 2008 to 11 May 2008. Like every year, the festival unfolded more than 40 places in the city: industrial wastelands, concert venues, clubs, bars, galleries, cinemas or symbolic places of the architectural heritage of Lyon. Nuits Sonores continued its urban discovery and maintains its priorities: an open and uncompromising programme as well as a high mobility.

This year the Nuits sonores festival organized events in an industrial wasteland (the former SLI factory in Vaise, built in 1905), at the Charlemagne ice rink (Patinoire Charlemagne), the amphitheatre of the Opéra National of Lyon (Amphithéatre de l’Opéra National de Lyon), the ELAC gardens (jardins de l’ELAC), the Rhône swimming pool (la Piscine du Rhône – the comeback!) and in most of the clubs and concert venues in town (Transbordeur, Marché Gare, Plateforme, Ninkasi …).

Just like every year many acts were brought together in the urban environment (streets, squares…).

Nuits Sonores is a festival dedicated to electronic and independent music trends and cultures. More than 1,000 artists have already performed during the five previous editions (live acts, local and international djs…).

Resident Advisor 104: Quiet Village

Joel Martin and Matt "Radio Slave" Edwards are the two men that make up Quiet Village, but it might be more accurate to say that the records that Martin and Edwards own are Quiet Village. Silent Movie, their debut full-length, is about as sample-heavy as any hip-hop offering, utilizing obscure and not-so-obscure sources to create up 21st century update on loungey exotica. Martin and Edwards aren't so much beat merchants, though, as much as they're interested in vibes. Silent Movie is a voyage into Balearic territory, where '50s eccentricity sits alongside the Chi-Lites and dub matches well with Italian film soundtracks.The same can be said for the duo's RA podcast. An hour-long home-listening mix, the duo floats along with some of their favourite records in tow, including a healthy dose of dub (Rhythm & Sound, Jackie Mittoo), ambient, downtempo and even a little bit of Led Zeppelin. Turn off the lights, sit back and drift away.

The name says it all: Get Physical tracks could hardly be more moving and corporeal, brimming with new beats and sounds by up-and-coming talents. Thanks to this emphasis, it has taken Get Physical less than four years to become one of the fastest risers and strongest brands of the international club scene. The Berlin/Prenzlberg-based label is backed by a collective of six people, each of whom had a long-standing career in music before making their way from Frankfurt to the capital at the beginning of the new millennium: Booka Shade alias Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier, M.A.N.D.Y. alias Patrick Bodmer and Philipp Jung and Thomas Koch aka DJ T. Gradual changes, like allowing other styles to join the mix and opening the label up to become today’s musical home for almost 20 artists from around the globe, go hand in hand with rising expectations, changed structures and new concepts. The label’s sound, too, continues to ramify and proliferate - it has become virtually impossible to squeeze their output into any style- or genre-related pigeonhole. Club compatibility is an absolute must, as is a penchant for the atmospheric and an emotional intensity which invariably hit the nerve of the boiling dancefloor. The crew of fifteen at Milastraße 2 consider themselves a true artist collective. By taking their sound and vision to the outside world, all members of this family, above all the label’s three in-house acts Booka Shade, M.A.N.D.Y. and DJ T., have contributed to the label’s exceptional reputation. A short warning signals the opening of Laurent Garnier’s long-awaited new album. Those who were expecting ‘Unreasonable Behaviour’ to be yet another techno album will be in for a surprise. Following on from the direction he began to explore with his album ‘30’ in 1996, this latest album, is very much a more personal exploration of electronic music and finds equal meaning both on and off the dancefloor.

Since his debut at Manchester’s Hacienda in 1987, the beginning of the Acid House explosion, Laurent Garnier has played a key role in the development of the electronic music scene. Over the last ten years he has built up his international reputation by playing at all the major clubs and festivals worldwide. During this time he has been voted best international DJ by the music press and has built up a very special relationship with his public. Laurent Garnier is very different from your average DJ. You only have to witness the queues of enthousiasts in front of the Rex Club in Paris or L’Anfer in Dijon where he held long-term residencies.

Born and raised in Rosario Argentina, Nico Purman has been roasting the proverbial marshmallows since he first started collecting records at 12 years old. Those days of innocence were filled with not-yet-freaky Michael Jackson, soon after tainted with the New Beat sound coming out of Belgium (with bands like Jade 4 U and Erotic Dissidents), before being completely corrupted by the fabled late 1980's Chicago Acid House movement. Once debased, Depeche Mode, Joy Division, and The Cure quickly followed all leaving their influence on Nico. At 17, Nico started to study percussion and played drums in local indie bands, recording in some of Buenos Aires' biggest studios. The experience left him with the taste of live performance and a deep understanding of rhythm, syncopation, and independence that only drumming can provide. With this classical insight into time and beat, Nico transitioned to vinyl and became one of Argentina's most respected DJ's. Armed with an expansive collection of music, he winds his audience through long hypnotizing sets of tough mood and movement, interlaced with selected loops and samples accentuating his motivational transfer. Nico's original music production quickly followed, first releasing the "Artificial Plastico EP" on Karmarouge (KR09) in 2004 as Artificial collaborating with friend Gustavo Sacchetti. Later Nico discharged solo and remix work for Spanish net label Sinergy Networks. Nico's first vinyl EP came out in 2005 on France's Modelisme Records (Model011), returning for a second Modelisme EP (Model013) in 2006. Also in 2005 Nico contributed "Resurgir" to Onitor's Stadtmusik Buenos Aires (ONITOR47). Gaining momentum, Nico then released "Lunatique EP" on Crosstown Rebels (CRM036) to critical appeal, from which the title track was licensed to the Get Lost 2 compilation mixed by Jamie Jones. In 2007 Nico's "Romantique EP" came out on Japan's Mule Electronic (MULE039). Then in 2008 Nico appeared on a mixed EP Curle Recordings (CURLE010) out of Belgium with the track "Miercoles". This took Nico over the top as it was praised by people like Laurent Garnier, Troy Pierce, Bart Skills, Martin Landsky, and Loco Dice. Since releasing the "Tuesday EP" in 2008 (VA017), perhaps the most direct approach to dark loud strobo room stimulation the label has ever seen, Nico will focus primarily on Berlin based Vakant. Forward, 2008 will prove an expansive year for Nico entering a new phase with Vakant, relocation to Europe, and his influence steering the sound of modern techno becoming ever more persuasive.

Resident Advisor 101: Falko Brocksieper

Falko Brocksieper might have moved away from Cologne in 2004, but you can still hear the lush techno sound of his home city in his productions. A producer since 1999, Brocksieper has released on a variety of labels including Sub Static, Resopal, Treibstoff and Dumb Unit and Tuning Spork. This month, though, sees the release of his first full-length in five years on Sub Static, Heavy Day, which promises to showcase both where Brocksieper’s been and where he’s going. Mixed in with his usual analog-based minimal funk is a number of vocal tracks, featuring the talents of Richard Davis, Big Bully and M.I.A.As a DJ, his style has been described as "intelligent and optimistic", and he places special emphasis on mixing up older tracks with more recent records. In keeping with the theme, his RA podcast is sprinkled with new productions by the likes of Cassy, Johnny D and Agnès, and closes out with a classic track by Baby Ford. You can also hear a few of the tracks from Heavy Day on the podcast (although none of the vocal cuts). Enjoy.

Lucca’s love affair with electronic music began performing as a DJ in 1999, but it was after a trip to London at 16 her real passion began, after the trip she got involved with Boby Center in Brno where the first Czech dance parties with the likes of Paul Van Dyk and Nick Warren took place in the mid 90’s In 2000, Lucca joined The Czech Mersey Agency, she was then booked to play at their legendary parties Supersonic Garage, Metronome and the Hradhouse Festival. Over the next 2 years Lucca become Czech Republic’s most popular dj and was voted 9th in German magazine Groove’s New comer Of The Year poll.Lucca has enjoyed a globetrotting dj career and has played all over the globe including Love Parade, May Day, Machac Festival, Nature One, Privilege, The Gallery, Sunrise Festival. In 2005 Lucca was also involed with the Tiesto European tour. As well as touring the world djing, Lucca is a accomplished producer and runs her own label Acapulco, her tracks have become favourites with Paul Van Dyk and Carl Cox, Coxy even used her track on his Live DVD. 2006 saw Lucca release her biggest track so far ‘Bodydance’ which was broadcast on rotation on MTV and the track had a video from the same people who bought you Fatboy Slim’s Video’s. Her label Acapulco is now established in its on right and has featured tracks and remixes from artists such as Umek
